How we make money

Links to shops. If you buy through one, the shop may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing, and it does not decide anything on this site.

The whole of it

A link, a shop, a share

Each pick carries a link to somewhere you can buy it. If you follow that link and buy, the shop may pay us a small share of what you spent. You pay exactly what you would have paid going there yourself — the share comes out of the shop's margin, not out of your pocket.

That is our only income. There is nothing else: no subscription, no advertising, nobody paying to be here.

It decides nothing

The pick is made before money is looked at

Which product wins each level is settled first, and written down before anybody looks at what a shop pays. Looking afterwards changes nothing, because the pick is already on the page.

When a winner's shop pays us nothing at all, we link it anyway. That happens, and it is not interesting. The product won, so it goes on the page; where you buy it is a separate question from whether to buy it at all.

The same goes for a product the biggest shops do not carry. It is judged like any other product, and we go and find somewhere to buy it — the maker's own shop, or another retailer. A pick is never quietly swapped for a more profitable one.

The refusals

What we do not do

No sponsored placements. A pick cannot be bought. Nobody has ever been offered one, at any price.

No paid rankings. No brand pays to be considered, to be placed higher, or to be left out.

No shop's own photographs. Every picture here is the maker's own image, taken once and hosted by us, which is also what the shops' own agreements require.

No hidden disclosure. On every product page, the line about what we earn sits directly above the buy buttons.

Where it is said

Next to the buy buttons, not buried

Advertising rules where we operate require a commission relationship to be disclosed clearly and next to the link itself. A footer line on its own does not satisfy that, and neither does a bare "affiliate link" label. So the disclosure sits directly above the buttons on a product page, in the same size of type as everything else around it.
